Congratulations! I remember that feeling from when I did that in 2001. Ten minutes after leaving the exam room, I bought my 2m HT (took my exam at a hamfest)

    Well, welcome to the club.

Thank you very much. I also got to talk on the radio for the first time tonight...Thanksgiving. I hope to get my first radio this weekend.

If you want to play a bit before you get your radio, obviously you have a computer. You can get the eQSO or EchoLink software, and get on a number of repeaters around the world that way as soon as you have received your callsign, using your computer, internet connection and sound card.

Yeah I am interested in doing that...just not sure how yet. Working on it though. I got my call sign the day after I took the test.

I couldn't tell you much about EchoLink; it isn't compatible with my firewall.

As for eQSO, just go to www.eqso.net, click the download link and install the software, then go back to the main page and click the registration link. They say it may take a few days to get your registration processed, but mine came back in a few hours. They will email you your registration key. Just enter that into the eQSO software, and you're on (assuming your sound hardware is working).

Anyway, I don't want to beat a dead horse. Welcome to the hobby.
